April - Neurodiversity Awareness Month

At VERCIDA, we proudly celebrate Neurodiversity Awareness Month by recognising and amplifying the voices of employers who are making strides in supporting neurodivergent employees. Across industries, organisations are stepping up to create inclusive workplaces where individuals with neurological differences, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and Tourette syndrome, can thrive.

One company leading the way is American Express (Amex). Through their Neurodiversity Benefit in the UK, Amex is setting a benchmark for workplace inclusivity. Employees like Gem have shared how this initiative has transformed their lives, offering expedited assessments and group support sessions, saving them both time and financial burden. With this benefit, Amex ensures neurodivergent employees receive the tailored support they need to excel both personally and professionally.

Similarly, winner of the VERCIDA Neurodiversity Champion Award 2025 TransPennine Express (TPE) is fostering an inclusive culture through their ‘Neurodiversity Network Group.’ Joanna Bentley, a Business Change Manager at TPE, has courageously shared her experiences of dyslexia, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia, highlighting how these conditions present challenges but also provide unique strengths. By raising awareness and encouraging open discussions, TPE is creating a supportive space where neurodivergent employees feel valued and empowered.

For businesses looking to enhance their inclusivity, there are several key steps to consider:

Leadership Commitment: Educating leaders on neurodiversity and championing inclusive policies.

Managerial Support: Encouraging open communication and providing accommodations like flexible work arrangements and assistive technology.

Inclusive Hiring Practices: Offering alternative application methods and training interviewers to recognise the strengths of neurodivergent candidates.

Join us this Neurodiversity Awareness Month in recognising the employers who are making a difference. Go to our employers page to discover workplaces where diversity is embraced and neurodivergent individuals can succeed and belong.
