June - Pride Month
June - Pride Month
Acknowledging Challenges, Amplifying Voices
The UK Supreme Court's recent clarification on the legal definitions of 'woman' and 'sex' under the Equality Act 2010 has sparked complex emotions, particularly within the trans community. While the court aimed to resolve legal ambiguities, its ruling arrives during a period of heightened vulnerability for trans and gender-diverse people, who are increasingly targeted by discrimination.
The Pride 2025 theme, as set by Schools OUT, is "Activism and Social Change." As we celebrate Pride, VERCIDA believes it's crucial to move beyond simple statements. We must actively cultivate allyship. This means:
- Listening: Truly hearing the concerns and experiences of trans individuals.
- Learning: Educating ourselves about trans identities and the challenges faced.
- Advocating: Speaking out against transphobia and demanding equality.
- Creating Change: Implementing inclusive practices in our workplaces and communities.
Let's make this Pride a powerful demonstration of our commitment to trans inclusion. We stand with you.
