May - Wellbeing Month

This Wellbeing Month, VERCIDA proudly highlights the transformative efforts of inclusive employers who are reshaping workplace culture to prioritise mental health, empathy, and belonging.

Forward-thinking organisations are implementing meaningful strategies to support employee wellbeing. For instance, British Antarctic Survey earned the 2025 VERCIDA Employer Excellence Award for Wellbeing Champion while  the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) won the award for Work-Life Balance Champion, recognising their commitment to flexible working, wellness programmes, and a culture of trust that empowers employees to balance professional and personal commitments.

Other companies are embedding mental health support into every stage of the employee experience. At Kinly, mental health is woven into the fabric of daily working life. Their commitment is demonstrated through comprehensive Mental Health Support Services, a dedicated team of trained Mental Health First Aiders, and a wealth of wellbeing resources. This proactive approach ensures that employees are equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive both professionally and personally.

Similarly, mental health support at Vodafone is front and centre. Acknowledging that life brings inevitable ups and downs, Vodafone offers a range of inclusive policies and initiatives, including a confidential, 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, mental health first aiders, and a wellbeing network that connects colleagues for peer support. Their mental health toolkit and inclusive policies ensure that every individual—regardless of age, disability, gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation—feels seen, supported, and valued.

Another example of cultivating a healthy workplace culture is found in Harbottle & Lewis, taking a holistic approach to wellbeing, recognising that a healthy mind and body are essential for success. Their benefits include free daily lunches, a vibrant wellness programme with yoga and fitness classes, monthly massages, one-to-one wellness sessions with a psychotherapist, and extensive financial wellbeing support such as private medical insurance and study sponsorship. This thoughtful package reflects their belief that supported employees are empowered employees.

Together, we can build workplaces where employee wellbeing is prioritised, and every individual feels valued and supported.
