December Month Focus

At this current time, focusing on disabilities is as important as ever. With the current global pandemic, social mobility and access is as difficult as it has ever been and it is important that employers and employees alike work hard to create a comfortable and inclusive work environment for their peers with disability issues.

The figures for 2019 showed only 53.2% of peers with disabilities aged 16-64 years are in employment versus 91.8% for non-disabled people. This figure is the highest yet but there is still a lot of work to do if we want to balance those numbers.

Celebrating those with disabilities raises important questions and can help everyone to better understand specific issues people have and allow workforces to become closer and more effective.

Disability issues

For Disability Awareness Month we want to talk about the issues around getting the right support for those with access issues in the workplace. It's important that there is constant conversations and learning around these specific issues.

What can we do for Disability Awareness?

Solving this problem starts by talking more about the specific problems that people with access issues face day-to-day. These issues come in a huge variety of shapes and sizes and the more educated we are about them and the more effort we put into learning about them, the easier it will be to tailor the workplace to suit people that may struggle.

It is our belief that the diversity and inclusion are absolutely key in securing not only an individuals success, but the success of a business. They key to improving the experience of those with disability or access issues is rooted directly within these fundamental values of diversity and inclusion.
