Pride Month

It’s important to find intentional ways to grow in our understanding and support of others. Aon’s commitment to fostering an inclusive culture is top on our agenda. We believe identifying ourselves as visible and voluntary allies is vital amidst the challenges we face, as it signifies an environment where all colleagues feel supported to bring their whole selves to work.

Aon Pride Alliance supports LGBT+ employees and their allies, the group is open to all Aon colleagues and is made up of both those who identify as LGBT as well as LGBT allies. The group is run by volunteers and members can commit as much or as little time as they can spare.

Our aim is to:

Provide support for all employees who are LGBT, are friends, relatives or colleagues of LGBT people, or any other employees with questions about sexual orientation or gender identity issues
Foster an atmosphere of inclusiveness and mutual respect by raising awareness and understanding of LGBT issues
Advise on policy development
Provide social and business networking opportunities for members
Improve recruitment, retention and career success for LGBT employees
Enhance Aon's image as a pro-LGBT employer and business
Provide an LGBT insight for the business, including helping in the development of products and services for the LGBT community

Our Inclusion Commitment

Whether related to accessibility, gender, ethnicity, age or sexual orientation, it’s important to find intentional ways to grow in our understanding and support of others. Aon’s commitment to fostering an inclusive culture is top on our agenda. We believe identifying ourselves as visible and voluntary allies is vital amidst the challenges we face, as it signifies an environment where all colleagues feels supported to bring their whole selves to work.

In support of this allyship, we encourage our leaders and colleagues to pledge 'I'm in.' This inclusion commitment gives each individual the opportunity to demonstrate their personal dedication to an inclusive culture, while visibly identifying their allyship to others. We also offer ongoing recommendations on how they may share, participate, discuss, act and continuously learn in support of their commitments.

Aon Pride Alliance

Pride is a fabulous chance to get together and celebrate all the advances in LGBTQ+ equality since the Stonewall riots in 1969. It’s great to connect with friends and allies and have a big gay party – and to see so many different parts of the LGBTQ+ community being out and proud! Here at Aon in the UK, we have been marching in London Pride, Leeds Pride and Pride Cymru in Cardiff for a few years now, and it’s a great chance to connect and network with colleagues from other parts of business/country; and to showcase Aon as a LGBTQ+ friendly employer.

Pride is also a reminder that unfortunately not every country in the World is as fortunate, as in plenty of countries it is still illegal to be anything other than heterosexual. Marching in Pride allows us to show support for those people that aren’t able to be safely “out” around the World. As a multinational employer, Aon does indeed have colleagues that work in some of those countries.
